How Can I Help?
Some people think, for whatever reason, that the Adventist Church’s frontline mission work is a thing of the past. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Each year some 2,500 Global Mission pioneers around the world are telling people about the love of Christ. One hundred percent of every dollar you give to Global Mission goes directly to the mission field. Global Mission doesn’t use any part of your donation for overhead costs.
As you explore these pages, prayerfully consider how you can be part of Global Mission’s work to reach the unreached with hope.
How are projects funded and chosen?
One hundred percent of Global Mission project funding comes from donations from people like you. Only one offering, the Annual Sacrifice Offering, which is collected each year at the conclusion of the week of prayer is used for Global Mission projects. The rest comes from direct donations.
The hundreds of projects Global Mission supports each year are started and planned by people at the local level. This grassroots planning creates projects with a higher chance of success, and creates local ownership.
Local missions and conferences help plan projects. They then send a proposal to the Global Mission Operating Committee for final screening and assessment to make sure that it meets specific criteria. For example, do they have specific action plans? Are they aimed at establishing new congregations in unentered areas? Are they focused on long-term, sustainable results?
Each year Global Mission allocates money to every world region. Local divisions, unions, conferences, and missions then make some contribution to the cost of projects within their territories. This helps create a sense of shared responsibility and local ownership of each initiative.
